Monkey threatens tourists

Chiang Dao Temple

Northern Thailand, 2002

Many of the temples have monkeys hanging about taking handouts from the visitors. However, there is the danger of agressive action when you habituate wild animals.

It gets even more dangerous when the humans do not understand the postures and body language animals often use to communicate. This male monkey is staring, a clear sign to anyone who understands it to "back off".
