The
elephant and trainer are paired together at an early age, for life. The
commitment for the trainer is a huge one. The bond between the two is
very strong. The trainers all develop special communication methods with
their elephant. Each elephant wears a bell with a unique sound that the
trainer can recognise. In late afternoon, the elephants are released into
the wild until the next morning. The trainer can hear his elephant by
the sound of its bell, and call out for it to come.
