With the exception of Hong Kong and the Chinatowns in New York and San Francisco, Hilo is the place to be for Chinese New Year. Fireworks, Parade, and of course the Lion Dance.

The firecracker noise scares away evil spirits, and the boy seen here is giving money to the lion for good luck in the coming year.
