I
spotted this flounder moving over a sandy patch in the shallows of Majuro
Lagoon. They are commonly called "peacock flounder" due to
the colorful blue spots they can display at will. A master of camoflage,
they have the ability to settle down on a sandy bottom and quickly change
color to match the surrounding area, rendering themselves invisible
to both predator and prey.
