This squid came to investigate our lights on a night dive. Just by chance, my light passed over it hovering in the blackness above me. I had time for just one image before it darted away into the blackness. The colorful skin of a squid contains pigment-filled sacs called chromatophores, and reflecting cells called iridiphores. These cells are used by the animal to change color at will.
