The
Magnificent Anemone is one of the more spectacular of the invertebrates
found in the tropical Pacific. They attach themselves to a rock or coral
boulder, and resemble large, floppy, circular shag carpets, capturing
food from the water drifting by. Luckily, this individual was in the "closed"
position, digesting tiny plankton it had captured on its tentacles. The
extremely colorful mantle was stunning, and caught my eye from quite a
distance. |
